Best Dressed

Less well known perhaps (ok, definitely) than the Golden Globes, the Grammys, or the MTV VMAs, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards are not to be ignored. While there’s always a red carpet at these types of things, one could easily argue that this is the Red Carpet, the only one that really counts, because this whole event is about what you’re wearing.  And to our dear male readers, before you turn your attention elsewhere let me just say: if you want to see what an exceptionally well tailored suit looks like (not to mention, some smoking hot model-dates), keep reading.

Monday night, the CFDA gave shiny, shiny statuettes (which resemble a woman in an early stage of pregnancy rocking a ponytail vaguely à la Karl Lagerfeld) to the following people for the following things:

Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award: Tommy Hilfiger
Media Award: Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) and Garance Doré
International Award: Rei Kawakubo, Comme des Garcons
Founders Award: Andrew Rosen
Womenswear Designer of the Year: Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen, The Row
Menswear Designer of the Year: Billy Reid
Accessory Designer of the Year: Reed Krakoff
Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Joseph Altuzarra
Swarovski Award for Menswear: Phillip Lim
Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Tabitha Simmons
Fashion Icon Award: Johnny Depp

Now check out some of our favorite looks from the evening.  Guys, don’t say I didn’t warn you about the suits (and you should probably go buy a skinny tie).
